2019 Wedding Band Trends We’ll See Next Year Too

August 9, 2019

We’ve discussed in previous blog posts the popularity of rose gold among contemporary women, but while rose gold remains the #1 trend of the late 2010s, there’s quite a few other trends that seem particularly yoked to wedding band fashion.

Let’s say you’ve already gotten your engagement ring (congrats!), and you’re looking to tie the knot this year.

What are the trends that really say “2019” and will remind you of your happiest day? Let’s take a look at a few of the most popular looks we here at Premiere have put together. Hopefully, once you’ve selected your favorites, you’ll have a clearer idea of what works for you!

Micropave

The micropave look refers to a specific variant of the pave style. While normal pave-set stones are slightly larger, the micropave style chooses a greater amount of smaller stones. The effect is fascinating, where the tiny diamonds work together to create an effect greater than the sum of their parts.

Imagine wearing a band made of crushed ice, and you have a good idea of the aesthetic beauty of the micropave look. Micropave has become extremely popular because of its flexibility: Wedding bands can be sculpted in any whimsical shape, and it’s not difficult for designers to place the handful of small diamonds along its curves and angles.

Neo-Vintage

Vintage styles (think looks from the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods) have never gone out of style, but the neo-vintage is a design strategy from designers where the excellence of older styles is dissected to its elements. Those elements, isolated, are added to contemporary looks.

This can express itself in a million different ways. For example, bezel settings, which are one of the oldest settings in history, have come back to prominence as an ultramodern feature. Wedding bands sculpted entirely from interlinked bezels would have been unimaginable a hundred years ago, but visiting your local jewelry store should open your eyes to the cool possibilities that designers have worked into their bridal pieces.

Mixed Metals

Mixed metals is a broad category, but it includes things like the pairing of gold and platinum, as well as pairing different shades of gold. Given that there are three common shades of gold, this opens the door for 6 different pairings that can be expressed many different ways.

Because men’s wedding bands don’t generally favor jewels, the mixed metals approach has become extremely popular in recent years. It’s a method of expressing a personal passion for color without adding the feminine touch of colored gemstones to a wedding band. Usually, the trend expresses itself as a polished white gold men’s band on which an inlay of textured rose or yellow gold is placed.

Colored Gemstone Accents

Anticipated by the fondness for rose gold, the gemstone accent trend embraces the same aesthetic: The love of vibrant color. In wedding bands, diamonds no longer rule the roost. Many of the top designers in bridal jewelry are sculpting their bands with colored gemstones.

Tacori alone has come up with an absolute rainbow of colored gemstone wedding bands, including blue and pink sapphire, emerald, and rubies. A woman who appreciates expressing her style with color has more options now than at any other time in recent history!
