An understated accessory, earrings have continually been taken for granted when discussing jewelry. But a true jewelry aficionado knows that a good pair of earrings can propel an ensemble to the next level. Further, we’ve been thinking of the current trend where designers are incorporating diamonds onto fashion-forward designs-and we love it!
We’ve drawn up a quick look at some interesting revamping of typical earrings types in favor of more modern, and luxurious diamond adorned forms of the fine jewelry.
HOOPS
In this gal’s opinion, hoops have always been cool (not just in the 90’s), case in point-Selena forever.com, but contemporary hoops have come a long way from their original plain precious metals look.
Current popular designers find no limits to the types of hoops available.
Take this wonderful pair of Le Vian Chocolatier Earrings YGHY 14. Hoops have never looked so good. Not only are these adhering to the traditional hoop shape, but they are audacious enough to be covered end to end in diamonds, including the elusive, chocolate diamonds.
BONUS JONAS:
Another stellar option, these Zugs 5 from Le Vian suit our collective of earrings as they take an entirely different approach to the traditional hoop by adding a secondary element to the design of the earring.
Diamonds are notoriously referred to as “a girl’s best friend,” and I am not about to disagree. With these earrings, young ladies can work a drop-dead gorgeous gown, or make the everyday slightly more sparkly with these unusually rare chocolate combos.
DROPS
Next, we look at drop earrings. Drops are meant to literally dangle from the earlobe to just about whatever length the wearer would like. In our opinion, these Zuge 100 by Chocolate by Petite Le Vian are fashion forward charmers. While they would look absolutely marvelous with a regal gown, we here at PJD are thinking they are suited more for a glam+steampunk ensemble. The inconsistently sized circles and various sorts of colored diamonds really propel the design of the earrings and make them fitting of a high-class, futuristic event.
BONUSES:
I found a new favorite color combo in these Earrings YGGL 9 from Le Vian Chocolatier. Blue gems have always been a favorite of mine, but these stunning round tanzanites wrapped in a square-shaped halo are beyond me. Plus, these beauties have the added charm of bold color contrasts, incorporating strawberry gold and rose gold precious metals, these drop dazzlers are a knockouts. We think these earrings fit well into the same glam Dystopia as the Zuge drops.
As shape and color are of utmost importance when discussing these alternative gemstone earrings, we’d also like to acknowledge both elements in these fine Le Vian Chocolatier Earrings YQML 22. Alluring as they are enchanting, the bright, aquamarine center stone exudes an almost mystic tone, while the browns on the uppermost part of the earrings distort the calming effect of the blues and whites.
STUDS
Contemporary meets traditional with these awe-inspiring earrings from Swarovski. Taking on a new shape, these Attract Earrings 514273 studs go above and beyond their classical stay-within-the-confines-of-the-earlobe borders and extend out with not one, not two, but a total of three, additional dangly diamonds bars. Ingeniously revamped, these are still considered elegant studs, but with a fine twist.
HUGGIES
We could not have an alternately-cool guide about gemstone earrings without at least one black (mostly black) pair. These Belle Etoile Circa Earring 03051320501 wonders have long been a favorite of ours. We’ve always enjoyed the fairly fun and flirty designs from the creatives at Belle Etoile and these are no exception.
While the components of the design are complimentary in that they are both circular shapes, the material use is particularly interesting in this pair of curious huggies. The bulk of the earring, the black crescent design, is interrupted by the elegant cubic zirconia stones to create a fashionable modern look.
And there you have it! Of course, we acknowledge that all these earrings are certainly gorgeous enough to wear not just for the oh-so-distant-future, but on an everyday basis. We just think it’s fun to consider these as timeless fine jewelry. Then again some may say we are currently living in an alternate reality, so steampunk away with any one of these earrings or other alt-chic creations in any way you’d like.
We Wanna Hear From You!
As relatively new jewelry enthusiasts, we here at PJD definitely think there are many more options out there. Are there other luxury diamond earrings that seem avant-garde to you? Tell us and share it on our Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook!
