It’s Halloween time again! It’s that time of the season for tricks, treats, spooks, ghouls, candy, and costumes. We here at PJD absolutely love Halloween, and as you know we also love jewelry! Combining these two interests of ours, we’ve taken some of this year’s most popular costumes and put together a guide for finding the ideal jewelry items that are sure to take any outfit to the next level.

1. Harley Quinn

Due to the huge (financial) success that was Suicide Squad, expect this year to see tons of people dressed up as the queen of crime, meaning of course, Harley Quinn. While the on-screen relationship between Harley Quinn and The Joker leaves a bit to be desired, there’s no arguing that viewers were entranced with Margot Robbie’s mean, manic, and fun portrayal of this legendary comic book character.

The Look:

Dressing like someone put Vivienne Westwood, Betsy Johnson, with a splash of Courtney Love in a blender, Harley Quinn’s style is punky, punchy, and a cheeky (pardon the pun). From what we saw in Suicide Squad, Harley seems to be a big fan of gold jewelry. Through the movie she’s seen wearing large gold rings, chandelier-style hanging gold earrings, and big gleaming gold spike bracelets.

Even in scenes in where she isn’t wearing the now-iconic “Daddy’s Little Monster” t-shirt, Harley Quinn can be seen covered in gold, generally sporting hoop-style gold earrings, and multiple strands of asymmetrical gold necklaces.

Recently, fashion jewelry designers have re-kindled their age-old love affair with gold. In the past few years, fashion and bridal jewelry designers such as A. Jaffe, Simon G., John Hardy, Michael Kors, and others, have made stunning gold jewelry items that would be sure to make Harley Quinn squeal.

Instead of a spikey gold bracelet, try something like this bangle bracelet from Simon G. With its bright diamonds and gold accents this bracelet is something that you’d be sure to wear more than just Halloween night. Additionally, there is tons of stackable gold rings gold rings and dangly gold earrings available at most fine jewelry retailers. Many of which that would perfectly encapsulate the punk-glam look of Harley.

 

2. Wonder Woman

On the other side of the DC Cinematic Universe, Wonder Woman is sure to be an extremely popular costume this year. With appearances in this year’s Batman V. Superman, the upcoming Justice League, and her own standalone film, Gal Gadot’s interpretation of Wonder Woman is here to stay.

The Look:

As opposed to the bright, starts-and-stripes clad outfit of yesteryear, Wonder Woman’s modern outfit features a darker, gold-like coloring, matching the darker tone of the upcoming films. Luckily for fans, this outfit still features Wonder Woman’s signature gold cuffs, and gold headband.

Get this Jewelry Look:

While most jewelry stores probably won’t have gold headbands (unless you’re looking somewhere like Etsy), you can still find plenty of other items to help complete any Wonder Woman outfit.

For the gold cuffs, try stacking multiple bracelets, or find a wrist wrap bracelet like this one from Officina Bernardi.

Also, try large gold gemstone rings, from designers like Madison L or Simon G. While Wonder Woman might not regularly wear rings, no one is going to want to risk telling that to anyone wearing great big rings.

Bonus Look!:

If strapping yourself into Wonder Woman’s leather ensemble isn’t for you, try going as WW’s alter ego, Diane Prince. In Batman V. Superman, Diane can be wearing a array of striking gold jewelry items including an impressive collection of stunning gold choker-style necklaces, as well as gleaming gold bracelets.

3. Witch

Always a perennial favorite, witch costumes are a great and effectively spooky last-minute costume. This season’s witch costumes are sure to include styles that range from the Wicked Witch of the West, to the goth-glam witches of American Horror Story: Coven, and everything in between.

The Look:

Regardless of which witch you choose to dress up as this season, one thing is for certain, you’re going wear a lot of black. • American Horror Story: Coven:

Putting the goth back in Southern Gothic, the outfits of these witches brings the classic witch aesthetic into the 21^st century. A combination of classic witch style with the high school witches of The Craft, these witches-in-training can be spotted wearing items with dark-colored gemstones, as well as simple bright diamond earrings and fashion rings.

 

 

4. Vampire

Another perennial Halloween favorite, dressing up as a vampire, whether it be some kind of Dracula or something else, is always a stylish and easy costume choice.

The Look:

Simple, elegant, and suave, vampires are meant to be flawlessly dressed from head to toe. A vampire’s impeccable outfit should be accented with simple, yet bold, pendant necklaces (remember, no crosses!), as well as distinctive gemstone-adorned rings.

Get this Jewelry Look:

5. Guy Fieri:

A favorite around the PDJ office, we know a few people this season who are planning to take their ‘stumes to Flavortown. Everyone’s favorite connoisseur of diners, drive-ins, as well as dives, dressing up as this hometown hero is a sure way to take your Halloween to the next level.

Get this Jewelry Look:

In addition to his signature spiky locks and trademark goatee, all you need to really nail the Guy Fieri look is a thick sterling silver or gold chain-link necklace, as well as single bright gold earring.
